Installations: psalmsong

PsalmSong is an installation inspired by three elements. The first one being ten Psalms from the Book of Psalms which are recited to promote healing; second is Kabbalah, a mode of mysticism attempting to illuminate the connections between the divine and the human worlds; and third, herbal healing traditions from diverse ethnic and cultural heritages. Central to PsalmSong is a five-sided meditation chamber composed of fabric panels suspended from the ceiling on acrylic rods. Revised text of the Psalms appear on ten of the panels. The “house-shaped” form of this meditation chamber will vary in height and width to accommodate exhibition venue dynamics. PsalmSong is the first of my installations to include music as an integral component.
